Montessori Learning

As Dr. Montessori observed, “no one can grow for the child.” Cognitive and physical development will happen on its own, and it is the adult’s role to guide children through interactions with their environments while connecting them to the tools they can manipulate in order to teach themselves. Rather than standing at the front of a room delivering one lesson to all, a Montessori guide blends seamlessly into the dynamic environment, giving individual and small-group lessons and, most importantly, closely observing each student's activities to gauge progress.

By using the wisdom of those who precede us, adults at MoʻO school create safe, beautiful places for the children to discover their own creativity, interests, strengths, and challenges. In turn, the children cultivate personal kuleana, leading them towards their unique social responsibility as global citizens.
