Preparations

Facility

  • Facility

    • Masks: All persons, staff and children, at Mo’O School will wear masks at all times with the exception of lunch. To prepare for this new policy, every family will be given 3 masks per family member prior to school’s re-start. In school, each person will have a personal container for their own mask for meal times.

    • Visitors: Effective immediately, no one except Mo’O School students and staff, and our Sunday cleaning person, will be allowed within Mo’O School. No parents or outside visitors will be permitted to enter. If a parent needs to pick-up a child during the school day, they will 1) call the school phone when they have arrived in the parking lot, and 2) meet their child at the door for a quick hand-off. Please defer to staff to open and close doors.

    • Gathering: In order to limit gathering at our storefront, drop-off and pick-up procedures will be temporarily modified. Please aim for punctuality.

      • Drop-off:

  • Elementary children will walk themselves into school between 8-8:10am.

  • Primary children will arrive at school between 8:20-8:30am. Those arriving on foot may present themselves at the door. For those driving, we ask that you get out of your car to make your presence known. A parent volunteer will come and walk your child into school.

  • Staff will sign all children in each morning.

  • Pick-up:
    • For half-day pick-ups, please observe the rules of social distancing when picking up your child.

    • End-of-day pick-up by car will begin at 3:15pm at the back door. We will form a car line and try our best to quickly load your child into the car.

    • End-of-day pick-up on foot will take place at the front door.

    • Staff will sign all children out every afternoon.

  • Staff

    • Commitment: Staff commit, as is reasonable and to the best of our ability, to limit socializing to our own household members and Mo’O School families in order to safeguard our health and the wellness of all.

    • Substitutes: In the event that any staff member feels unwell, we will call upon the teacher parents within our Mo’O families to step in for us in class. We appreciate the willingness of our School community to participate in this way.

  • Children & Families

    • Commitment: We ask that all families commit, as is reasonable and to the best of our abilities, to limit socializing to our own household members, our workplaces as applicable, and Mo’O School families in order to safeguard our health and the wellness of all.

    • Siblings: In the interest of keeping our community consistent and insulated, we invite siblings to join us in our school day rather than enroll in outside programs that could increase our collective exposure to unknown vectors. ‘Ohana matters at Mo’O School; our inclusivity may also protect us.

  • Community

    • Manoa Marketplace: We ask everyone to be extra cautious community members at this time. All persons should be wearing masks in the Marketplace. There shall be no gatherings of Mo’O School families or children. Careful movement such as walking ensures that we are all able to maintain proper physical distancing in this public space. A lack of consideration by any one of us threatens the safety of our at-risk community members and Mo’O School’s good name.
